Hungary, the first of the Eastern block countries to embrace 'Glasnost', hosts one large Hungarian Christmas Market located in Budapest. There are other much smaller Christmas Markets in Hungary not listed on this website.

Budapest is an amalgamation of two cities Buda and Pest and is easily accessible by air through national and low budget airlines. The main Xmas Market in Hungary actually takes place in Vörösmarty Square in Buapest and is celebrating it's 10th anniversary.

Many visitors choose to visit an Hungarian Xmas Market and elect to go to Budapest because there is so much else to see and do. Apart from admiring the neo-renaissance architecture which is so characteristic of Budapest, one can visit the numerous Turkish Baths, a legacy of the Turkish occupation of Buda and Pest dating back to the 16th and 17th century.
