Bern Christmas Markets
This year, the Bern Christmas markets will be held as usual at the Waisenhausplatz form December 1st until December 29 and at the Münsterplatz from December 1st until December 24. Various festively decorated and individually designed wooden huts and stalls contribute to the Christmas atmosphere in Bern.
Münsterplatz is devoted mainly to arts and crafts. Traditional market fare can be found 10 minutes away on Waisenhausplatz.
You'll find special candles, gifts and handmade souvenirs. Glühwein will help to warm you up again, and there are plenty of stalls offering snacks and nourishment. A visit to one of the legendary restaurants in the Old Town - either the 350-year-old Klötzlikeller or the Kornhauskeller - turns a visit to this magical market into something really special.

First visit to swiss markets, have previously been to other countries. Liked atmosphere in general in Switzerland - more emphasis on local crafts, less on food and drink though we did enjoy what was on offer. We stayed in Biel and used Swiss pass to travel extensively by train to lots of markets. (by the way, you don't list Biel and it also has a charming market with lots of local craftsmen/women demonstrating as well as selling.) Bern was lovely, pleny of variety and good value.
