The South West's Premier Christmas Shopping Event
Each year, the Abbey Churchyard area – a magical setting in the shadow of Bath Abbey and next to the Roman Baths, right in the centre of the stunning Georgian city’s shopping district, is transformed into a Christmas shoppers’ haven – Bath Christmas Market. The internationally renowned festive gift market is set to go ahead in its tenth year and we are delighted to announce that the Bath Christmas Market will run for an additional 7 days this year - a total of 18 days!
123 traditional wooden chalets full of everything you’ll need to prepare for the perfect Christmas will adorn the streets. If you are looking for something extra special to make your Christmas perfect, Bath Christmas Market is the place you’ll find it, with all of the retailers selling unique, handcrafted items, many of which are made in the local area and the South West, giving the event a very individual identity. Festive food and drink, decorations, jewellery, accessories, crafts and children’s toys are all abundant, and with such a huge range of gift ideas any prospective present buyer will be spoilt for choice – even for those family members who are normally impossible to buy for! Coach parking arrangements are being managed by Bath & North East Somerset Council – http://www.bathnes.gov.uk/.

Having been disappointed by a couple of Christmas markets so far this month, I was starting to worry about Bath! I used to travel to the continent to see their Christmas markets and was starting to think we just couldnt organise one in this country! Wrong - Bath was lovely.
Plenty of stalls to see and just when I thought we'd seen them all, we'd turn a corner and there were more! My hubby got straight into the nut stalls and enjoyed tasting the variety of other foods available. By lunch time he was full, whereas I was looking for somewhere to eat!
Walked our socks off looking round Bath and spent a lot of money too, but it was well worth the 4 hour drive to get there and I would thoroughly recommend a visit to anyone, and will definately be coming back!

After visiting Cirencester Christmas Market earlier in the day and being extremely disappointed, we were more than impressed with Bath. Although it was very busy, this added to the atmosphere and all the stalls were wonderful. Would definitely recommend a visit.

By far the best market I have visited. All compact in the town, with the local shops nearby. Plenty to see and do, lots of restaurants, would highly recommend.

We are very sorry to hear that Olwynne was a little disappointed with her visit to the Bath Christmas Market. Although there were no hot chestnuts on sale last year, we did have a variety of other hot nuts on sale such as delicious caramel nuts - that I would highly recommend! We are also looking to expand our entertainment and music on offer this year and this will enhance the atmosphere further. I hope that Olwynne will return to Bath Christmas Market at some point in the future. It is such a wonderful event that attracts many people for the excellent shopping on offer as well as the stunning and unique backdrop of Bath's beautiful buildings.

Bath Christmas Market was a little disappointing for us. maybe we had been spoiled by Lincoln Christmas Market which we visited a few years ago. The stalls were bright and colourful but the lack of hot chestnuts (a much looked forward to treat for us) and Christmas music left us feeling that it lacked atmosphere. We have also visited Birmingham Christmas Market which had the chestnuts and music but was still not a patch on Lincoln. I do think that with a little more atmosphere Bath Market would have fared a lot better. The city is a beautiful backdrop for an occasion like this.

The market is well worth a vist but I would suggest if going that you plan well ie book in advance to stay overnight somewhere near. We went for the day and it took hours to get into Bath and then the car park by the time we got there it was lunch so went in search of somewhere to eat but everywhere was full and had a minimum waiting time of 1-2 hours, even the bakeries had pretty much sold out it was hell, eventually managed to get a pasty. The market was good but there was just far to many people and you couldnt look at the stalls you were more carried along with the flow of the people so couldnt stop. It might be better this year as they have spread it out, if I were to go again I would book accommodation in the city and probably visit in the week rather than on a Saturday. But I did come away feeling Christmasy.
