Something for Everyone at Bury St Edmunds!
Between 25 November and 27 November, the historic centre of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk will be transformed into a wonderful Christmas market with colourful stalls selling local produce and crafts as well as traders from around the UK and mainland Europe, traditional fairground rides and on-stage entertainment.
The Angel Hill area of Bury St Edmunds, with its recently crowned cathedral, medieval Abbey Gate and links with Charles Dickens is the ideal setting for a traditional Christmas Fayre. An added attraction is the town’s nearby cosmopolitan shopping centre with its great mix of famous name stores and independent shops plus cafés and restaurants galore. Visitors on Saturday will also be able to sample the delights of Bury St Edmunds provisions market on the Buttermarket and Cornhill while, this year, the date also coincides with the Cathedral’s Christmas Fair and the Medieval Fayre in Moyse’s Hall Museum. There will be street entertainment on all three days leading up into the town centre and more stalls in our new shopping centre 'arc' There really is something for everyone.
Bury St Edmunds has good value parking close to the town centre and a park and ride service will operate. For groups and coach parties there will be coach drop off points close to Angel Hill on all three days. Coaches will be able to park all day for free, there will also be a free taxi service provided for drivers to take them into town and a £5 meal voucher for all pre-booked coaches.
Details from Bury St Edmunds’s Tourist Information Centre on Tel: 01284 764 667 or click on the icon which take you directly to our website. The market will be open 10am-7pm on Friday and Saturday and 10am-5pm on Sunday.

Visited here on Sunday 27th November 2011 and took advantage of the park and ride which was £4 per car. Having visited here in 2010 it was a pleasant to see a few of the familiar stalls returning. A large variety of stalls both outside in the German traditional style huts and inside various locations dotted around the town. The Christmas market coupled with all the high street shops makes this an enjoyable day out and worthwhile shopping trip.

We have just had a brilliant day at Bury Christmas Fayre. We arrived early (9am on Sunday) and warmed outselves with a coffee whilst we waited for the shops and stalls to open - thank you to Costa for having the foresight to open early. As we arrived early parking was easy although I suspect this became trickier later in the day - it cost us £7 for the whole day and we were right in the centre.
Huge variety of stalls with mixture of locally produced goods, food, and good quality goods from further afield. Few too many hat stalls though! Craft fairs in the old fire station and central hall provided further variety and around 90% of shops in the town centre were also open.
We managed most of our christmas gift shopping in one pleasurable day. It will certainly become a regular feature in our calendar - and finally, thank you to Bury St Edmunds town council for such great organisation.

This year will be our 6th year we have been. Each year the event is bigger & better and theres plenty for all ages .
We particularly like the atmosphere in the early evenings and the food on offer is both varied and good value .
Lastly the entertainment is excellent

Bury St Edmunds is the perfect place for a Christmas Market. The Angel Hill area is lovely and with the cathedral in the background creates a lovely atmosphere. The event has lots of different stalls in different locations around the town. I really loved the entertainment particularly the animals around the Cathedral area. I go to Bury St Edmunds quite a lot during the year and always love the street market and this year the new shopping centre has added more shops to the town. I can't wait for this year's Fayre it says it is going to be bigger than ever
