Wrexham’s Christmas market has become one of the most eagerly awaited events in the town’s calendar, attracting people back to shop, year after year.  This time there will be more stalls than ever before - in fact as many as can possibly be crammed into what is the most picturesque part of the town centre.  They will certainly fill Church Street and St Giles’ churchyard to overflowing.

Stalls this year will include hand made wooden toys; candles; jewellery; books by local authors; cards; crafts; all sorts of gifts; Christmas decorations; freshly cut trees; pottery and lots of local produce, including pies, cakes, brownies; chocolates, cooked-on-the-spot Welshcakes, local beers and wine jellies, as well as preserves and sauces made from local grown blueberries.

What makes this market really special is that it spills over into the beautiful parish church, which is decorated for the festive season and a real haven of warmth on a cold winter’s evening.  There are more stalls inside the church, as well as refreshments, music and carols and many of the 6,000 plus visitors are so captivated by the surroundings that they take an opportunity to just sit and soak up the atmosphere for a while.

The opening hours are to be extended this year so the market will be in action from 12 noon – 8pm.  Why not come early and spend the day in Wrexham?  There are many small, independent shops, national brands and restaurants, as well as popular indoor markets and the new Eagles Meadow development, which is full of major national retailers.

Other Christmas dates:

Thurs 18 November – Christmas lights Switch-on with Tim Vincent and other stars of Wrexham's Aladdin Pantomome

Thurs 2 December – Father Christmas arrives.  The Grotto will be open until 24 December

Thurs 2 - Sat 4 December – Santa’s Christmas Village

Thurs 16 December – Camels and Carols

Review this Christmsa Market
Customer Review
By Chris Hamilton, Wrexham Wrexham Market Truly Charming
17/11/2008
I attended this market last year and found it really charming. The setting in an old street and in the historic churchyard is delightful and the range of good were surprisingly varied. Possibly the best aspect was the lack of rabid commercialism that blights some other markets...the Wrexham Victorian Christmas market comes across as a genuine attempt to recreate an old fashioned Christmas market complete with entertainment, carols and chestnuts. Well done to Wrexham Council for organising such a great event!
